Christianity Today has a great interview with Eugene Peterson and Peter Harris on creation care. I love this quote from Harris as it sums up what I have felt for a long time is true of creation care:
“[Creation care] Is a response to who God is….you do what you do because you believe it pleases the living God, who is the Creator and whose handiwork this is, your perspective is very different. I don’t think there is any guarantee we will save the planet. I don’t think the Bible gives us much reassurance about that. But I do believe it gives God tremendous pleasure when his people do what they were created to do, which is care for what he made.”
My patch remind me of the way things should be. Organic, natural. Just God, the elements and me. In the patch I walk with God in the cool of the evening. God speaks and I am free to hear. In the patch I am working with God. The metaphors of the garden and the Christian life abound. I just wish I had more time to tend to it…
